The Most Important Advanced Practice Nursing Topics Await You at NANN in Vegas

NANN's APRN Summit offers educational content specifically tailored to neonatal nurse practitioners and clinical nurse specialists. We have a great lineup planned with relevant topics that will help you enhance your ability to service neonates and their families.

Trauma and Triggers
Elizabeth W. McCutchon, EdD MS NNP-BC PMHNP
Have you ever cared for a family with whom you could never build rapport? And maybe everyone struggled to build rapport with this family, it wasn’t just you. Did you try to avoid working with the family? Did you start feeling tired when you were headed into work because you thought you would have to “deal with” this family? How can we be better prepared to manage these situations, so our cup is not empty at the end of the day? This presentation will describe how our own trauma and triggers can lead to strained relationships with patients/families who are in the midst of an often-scary NICU experience.

Getting More than a NRP Card: Using Simulation and Behavioral Skills to Improve Performance
Julie Arafeh, MSN RNC
Simulation has been a part of obtaining a NRP card for several years with the intent of improving team performance. But does it? In this presentation we will review how you can use behavioral or team skills during simulation, whether you are a simulation instructor or a participant, to improve your performance during your next neonatal resuscitation. The NRP Behavioral Skills were adapted from high stress, high consequence industries to improve safety and performance. These skills will be reviewed and explored with practical applications for all neonatal resuscitations.

NNP Preceptors: Our Future is in Your Hands!
Bobby Bellflower, DNSc NNP-BC FAANP
Michele Savin, DNP APRN NNP-BC
This panel will review the state of NNP precepting around the country, best practices for recruitment, support, and retention as well as provide a forum for discussion by the audience.
