How can we be better prepared to manage these situations, so our cup is not empty at the end of the day? This presentation will describe how our own trauma and triggers can lead to strained relationships with patients/families who are in the midst of an often-scary NICU experience.

In this presentation we will review how you can use behavioral or team skills during simulation, whether you are a simulation instructor or a participant, to improve your performance during your next neonatal resuscitation. The NRP Behavioral Skills were adapted from high stress, high consequence industries to improve safety and performance. These skills will be reviewed and explored with practical applications for all neonatal resuscitations.

Drake, MN NNP RNC-NIC CNS C-ELBW on the physiology of the intrauterine environment and the pathophysiology of the extrauterine experience. The session will also offer thermoregulation practice strategies and techniques for maintaining normothermia while providing a developmentally supportive environment.
