Board Update

Lori BrittinghamLori Brittingham, MSN RN CNS AACNS-N
President of NANN

It’s an exciting time of the year for NANN—new leaders and volunteers have been selected and we’re ready to move forward on many fronts. As a board, we can’t help but feel inspired and excited as the future of our organization and its leadership take shape.

NANN membership growth is top of mind for all of us as we head into the second half of the year. We’re just over 35% of the way to our goal of adding 777 additional members to our ranks in 2018, but we need your referrals and recommendations to reach as many neonatal nurses as possible. I encourage each of you to refer just one new member this year. If we all commit to this, we can help NANN make an even bigger difference for nurses, patients, and their families. Your referrals mean so much and make you eligible for NANN member referral rewards—so help us grow NANN like never before!

I’m excited to celebrate NANN, our achievements, and our future endeavors together during our 34th Annual Conference in Anaheim, California, October 17–20. We plan to take NANNAHEIM by storm with neonatal nurses from all over the world. We’ll discuss trending clinical topics, network with our peers, meet with leading industry vendors, and head back to our units recharged and ready to share what we’ve learned.

NANN’s annual conference is your opportunity to deepen your knowledge on important topics like neonatal abstinence syndrome, glucose gel, surgical care, neonatal infections and sepsis risk, persistent pulmonary hypertension, and caring for extremely low birth-weight infants. Our keynote speakers will discuss nurse empowerment, the nuances of the physical assessment, and practicing with purpose. Finally, don’t miss our APRN Summit and the cardiac preconference based on the S.T.A.B.L.E. program.

NANNAHEIM will also deliver big on fun and excitement! Make new connections at NANN’s Dine Arounds, take advantage of exclusive discounted or twilight tickets at Disneyland®, and attend our all-attendee celebration, NANN After Dark. This year, we’ll meet on the Lanai Deck at the Anaheim Hilton, our host hotel, for a luau-themed party. Grab your Hawaiian shirts, dancing flip flops, and put a flower in your hair—this party is for you! You can also enjoy savings by registering early. We can’t wait to meet you under the palm trees and celebrate together this fall.

As always, I am truly grateful for all you do on behalf of NANN!
