NANN President
Hello, fellow NANN members! I hope this issue of NANN E-News finds you enjoying some warm sunshine and planning some fun and relaxing events for the summer months ahead. Although it’s almost vacation time for school kids, that’s not true for NANN leaders and staff, who are in full swing planning this year’s southern jaunt to beautiful Savannah. If you haven’t marked your calendars yet, please do! An early “best value” rate means attendees save $125 on what’s sure to be our best meeting yet. I can’t wait to meet you all there in October as we Evaluate Evidence and Inspire Change together. Then we’ll enjoy the gorgeous weather and landscape, take in the history, and enjoy a little nightlife, too!
As we move through the year, I’ll be sharing details about the progress we’re making toward the goals in our strategic plan, which includes the domains of Education and Professional Development, Setting the Standard of Care, Advocacy and Awareness, Leadership, and Community. The specific goal of the Education and Professional Development domain is to provide education and support to nurses across the career continuum.
NANN is driven to provide the latest innovations and developments in evidence-based neonatal nursing care through education and training. Since its inception in 2018, the newly formed Education Strategic Coordinating Committee has been charged with creating a best‐in‐class Annual Conference that showcases NANN as the leader in clinical and professional practice. The 2019 Annual Conference will feature three educational tracks, including a new APRN focused line of sessions. The conference will also launch the new eMentoring program.
Please take a moment to contemplate the personal and professional experiences you’ve had in partnership with NANN. I know that I have benefited in countless ways over my 20+ years with the organization. From obtaining the education I needed as a novice nurse, to growing my network and leadership skills, to the comradery I feel with neonatal nurses all over the world, NANN is my professional home as a neonatal nurse. As you consider the same, I ask that you share your experiences with your peers and encourage them to join us. We are stronger together!
I have so much gratitude for each of you. NANN is special because of you and what you share with your patients, your peers, and with NANN. Thank you for all you do!
