Embracing Change: NANN-AP's Journey Toward Amplified Collaboration

Barbara Snapp, DNP APRN NNP-BC
NANN-AP Council Chair

The past 18 months at NANN and NANN-AP have led to quite a few changes as we recognize that none of us functions effectively in this space alone. We all need our colleagues, mentors, support team, and leaders to have enough knowledge and skill to care for our babies and their families.

This updated philosophy is reflected in the NANN-AP name change and recent NANN bylaw changes.

The NANN-AP Council appreciates you, our colleagues, and everyone who joins the advanced practice arm of NANN. Each new NANN-AP member is now personally welcomed by a Council member. We have a goal to be transparent with membership. One way we will do so is by providing periodic updates on the MyNANN NANN-AP pages, including synopses of Council meetings shortly after they occur. To improve our working relationship with the SIGs, we are engaging them as our in-house experts for their assistance in Council decisions and position statements.

By now you know that NANN-AP has extended our APRN Summit at the NANN 40th Annual Conference in Orlando, FL, to a full day. This could not have been done without our industry partners’ willingness to support us, for which we are incredibly grateful. The all-day summit was created in response to your requests for more APRN and pharmacology content.

The Summit planning taskforce is very engaged, and the APRN Summit is going to be an event you do not want to miss! Please help us make it a success by registering for the APRN Summit and joining us in Florida. We will ask for your feedback when the APRN Summit taskforce reconvenes right after the conference to plan for 2025.

To be the best neonatal advanced practice organization, we need you, our colleagues, as part of our support team. You can provide this support by volunteering, which is easy to do. There are many open positions that only require an hour or two a month. Volunteering will allow you to be on the frontlines of neonatal care. Our professional organization needs to remain responsive to the many healthcare challenges and to do this we need representation from all members bringing different viewpoints and life experiences to share. The best part?  The amazing people you will meet!
