NANN's Latest Position Statement on Marijuana and Breastfeeding

As the professional voice of neonatal nurses, NANN recommends in our recent position statement that women abstain from marijuana consumption during pregnancy and while breastfeeding. The position statement lists 14 recommendations for providers for addressing maternal marijuana use and the potential negative impact on neonates and infants. The accompanying infographic aims to facilitate easy sharing of recommendations and safety information on the use of marijuana by expecting and lactating mothers within the neonatal nursing population.

The Central Florida Association of Neonatal Nurses (CFANN) has decided to voluntarily close the chapter due to difficulties in finding new leadership. Although the chapter will no longer be active, CFANN members interested in staying involved with chapters are encouraged to join the West Coast Florida chapter (WECANN). More details on the chapter and their activities can be found on WECANN's website.
