FASD Respect Act

Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) continues to be the leading known preventable cause of intellectual disabilities. The range of infants with FASD varies from 0.2/1000 to 9/1000 depending on the community and the technology used for diagnosis.

Neonatal nurses and APRNs can help identify resources to support families of infants with FASD and can educate people about the risks of drinking alcohol while pregnant. The FASD Respect Act (S.2238 / H.R.4151) would reauthorize and extend the Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders Prevention and Services program. Read more about the Act and FASD prevention in this month’s issue of From the Hill to the NICU.

COVID-19 Vaccine Information

NANN continues to work through the COVID Vaccine Facts for Nurses campaign to provide current, critical, and credible COVID-19 vaccine information to our nurses working on the frontlines. Check out the resources designed to help you educate patients and members of the communities you serve. NANN also supports the work of the COVID-19 Vaccine Education and Equity Project which works to lead conversation, provide education, raise awareness, and promote the impact of widespread COVID-19 vaccination uptake. Resources include helpful one-pagers to support important conversations around vaccination and health disparities in the context of COVID-19.
