Live Meeting Cancellation Details
Why is the 2020 Annual Conference going virtual?
In light of the global pandemic and related governmental restrictions and CDC guidelines, NANN has been forced to cancel our in-person Annual Conference planned for New Orleans, Louisiana, October 10-13, 2020. The health and safety of our attendees is our highest concern.
After surveying the NANN membership and interested conference attendees, the majority of respondents indicated their preference for offering the conference as a virtual event. Although we will miss being together in person this fall, we look forward to providing neonatal nurses with an innovative and exciting virtual conference experience.
Will the meeting be held during the original conference dates?
No. The virtual meeting will take place on October 21-23, 2020.
Will attendees and exhibitors be refunded for hotel and airline expenses?
Per NANN's Cancellation Policy, no refunds can be made for lodging, airfare, or any other expenses related to attending the conference. We suggest you contact the hotel to cancel your reservation and your airline to request a refund. If they are unwilling to grant a full refund, they may be willing to reschedule you for another flight in the future.
Will NANN consider New Orleans as a conference location in the future?
Absolutely! We are all disappointed that we were forced to cancel due to the pandemic and hope we are able to visit there in the future.
When is the next NANN Annual Conference?
The 37th NANN Annual Conference will be held September 15-18, 2021 in Denver, CO.
Virtual Conference Information
Is registration required?
Yes. Please see the registration page. You must register in advance of the conference dates to participate live or on-demand.
What does the registration fee include?
The affordable registration fee, which is half the fee of a live event, covers all sessions and attendee experiences offered during the conference as well as the virtual exhibit hall and poster gallery. In addition, registered individuals have access to recordings of all conference sessions for over four months following the live event. This on-demand access means that attendees can attend more sessions and earn more CNE than in a live environment.
What is the cancellation policy for NANN Virtual?
All cancellation requests must be made in writing. A $100 processing fee will be charged for all cancellations postmarked on or before October 1, 2020.
No refunds will be made under any circumstances on cancellations postmarked after that date. NANN reserves the right to substitute faculty or to cancel or reschedule sessions because of low enrollment or other unforeseen circumstances. If NANN must cancel the entire meeting, registrants will receive a full credit or refund of their paid registration fee.
What if I cannot attend all the live conference sessions and events? Will I be able to view the presentation(s) at another time?
Yes. All sessions will be recorded and available following the live event. You can watch conference sessions on demand through March 1, 2021, and receive CNE after taking the posttest.
Is CNE available through the virtual conference?
Yes. Participants can earn more than 40 hours of CNE by watching sessions live during the conference dates or viewing them on demand and taking the posttest by March 1, 2021.
How do I complete a conference evaluation?
Within each session, you will click on a link that will take you to the session evaluation. In addition, you must complete the overall conference evaluation to access your CNE certificate.
Will there be networking opportunities?
There is nothing like the connections made at a live NANN meeting and we'll make sure to offer similar events in the virtual space. Look for more details in the coming weeks.
Speakers and Presenters
I am a speaker. How will my presentation be shared?
The majority of sessions will be prerecorded to allow speakers to be available for Q & A during the live event. Q & A conversations will be available to those attendees who choose to watch later on demand. Our Education team will be reaching out to assist speakers with this process.
I am a poster presenter. How will my poster be shared?
Your accepted abstract will be included in the e-poster gallery of the virtual conference site and available to all conference attendees.
I am in the industry. Will industry and exhibitors be represented in a virtual expo?
How will this affect exhibitors who have already signed up for the live event?
All current exhibitors will be offered an upgraded virtual exhibit package with advertising and networking capabilities, and opportunities to customize their virtual experience.
Will sponsorship and advertising opportunities be available for the virtual meeting?
How can I ask questions during a session?
The virtual conference site has a robust chat feature that will allow you to communicate with others watching, as well as the moderator and speaker.
How far ahead of time should we log in to a session?
All conference sessions will begin on time. We recommend that you log in, visit the virtual conference website, and become familiar with it and its features prior to the conference. At the beginning of each day, we recommend that you log in 10 – 15 minutes prior to the start time to double-check your connection and sound.
In addition, look for helpful tips, site tours, and updates from NANN in the coming months to help you navigate the virtual conference site and get the most from your experience.
What are the technical requirements needed to participate?
To participate, you need an Internet connection and web browser. For the best viewing experience, we recommend that you join the conference using Google Chrome. Additional detailed instructions for accessing the conference will be sent to all registrants before the virtual conference dates.
What should I do if I experience technical difficulties during the meeting?
